Washington, DC – Hurricane Milton is expected to hit Florida’s west coast on Wednesday as a major hurricane, bringing potentially life-threatening floods and winds to the region just two weeks after Hurricane Helene. Two members of the Moms Clean Air Force team are available to speak to media as an impacted resident and an expert on children’s health.
- Moms consultant Emily Pickett is a lifelong Floridian who resides in Tampa, Florida with her husband and two children. She can speak to her on-the-ground experience with Hurricane Milton, and how this storm compares to the many she and her family have weathered in the past.
- Moms Senior Policy Analyst Elizabeth Bechard, who lives with her family in Essex, Vermont, can speak to the link between hurricanes, climate, and the ways that extreme weather events like this one jeopardize both the physical and mental health of our children and families. Before moving to Vermont about two years ago, Elizabeth spent most of her life in North Carolina and has firsthand experience with hurricanes.
