Press Statement July 18, 2024

WHAT:

Rep. Jennifer McClellan, Sen. Jeff Merkley, and Eva Lighthiser, the Montana teen climate activist who is a plaintiff in Held v. Montana, along with Beyond Petrochemicals’ Executive Director Heather McTeer Toney and Moms Clean Air Force’s Director & Co-Founder Dominique Browning will come together at the annual Moms Clean Air Force Play-In for Climate Action on July 23, 2024 from 9am-11am. This is a private event. Members of the media who would like to attend in-person may RSVP to Sara Klein at MomsCleanAirForce@dkcnews.com. The press conference will be livestreamed publicly to Moms Clean Air Force’s Instagram and Rep. McClellan’s Facebook at 10 AM ET.

This year’s event culminates in a press conference to announce a historic Congressional resolution, introduced by Rep. McClellan, calling on Congress to consider the unique vulnerabilities of children in any and all measures of adaptation to extreme weather. Senator Merkley and Beyond Petrochemicals’ Executive Director Heather McTeer Toney will address their work in cleaning up dangerous pollution from the petrochemical industry that impacts air quality and children’s health.

The Play-In for Climate Action is an annual Moms Clean Air Force tradition that brings together families from across the country for a fun-filled dynamic event with climate-focused kids’ activities. After the event, members of Moms Clean Air Force from across the country visit Congressional offices to let lawmakers know that moms, dads, caregivers, kids, and families care deeply about taking action to protect us from climate, air, and petrochemical plastic pollution. We tell Washington: Listen to your moms!
