Moms Clean Air Force Outraged as EPA Prepares to Finalize Anticipated Repeal of Endangerment Finding and Declares “Zeldin Must Go!”

Press Statement January 9, 2026

Washington, DC — EPA’s decision on whether to repeal the Endangerment Finding and clean vehicle standards has moved to the Office of Management and Budget. This is a step toward the release of the final rule, which is expected to overturn the Endangerment Finding. In response, Dominique Browning, the director and co-founder of Moms Clean Air Force, released the following statement:

“Zeldin’s anticipated decision would mark the most aggressive, ruthless act of dismantling public health protections in the agency’s 55-year history, and it follows a year-long pollution spree at EPA. Our children and future generations will pay the price. Zeldin calls his actions deregulation. Moms Clean Air Force calls them destruction. They are morally bankrupt.

“The Endangerment Finding was supported by Republicans and Democrats at its inception. The science proving that climate change endangers human health has steadily gotten stronger over the years.

“The science is clear, and so is the reality of what is happening right now: Our families and communities are experiencing the devastation and expense of climate disruption. The first half of 2025, kicked off by the vicious Los Angeles wildfires, was the costliest on record for disasters in the U.S. The second half of the year started with harrowing flooding in Texas that took the lives of over 130 people, including dozens of children. Last month, communities in Washington state reeled from flooding intensified by global warming. The past three summers have been the hottest on record. Families are already facing days when it’s too hot and too smoky for children to play outside, and too dangerous to send children to school or day care.

“Families are already struggling with rising insurance costs, paying for expensive property damage after storms, and facing higher medical costs when the health impacts of extreme weather—from severe asthma attacks induced by wildfire smoke to heat-related illness—hit close to home.

“Lee Zeldin has thoroughly corrupted the mission of EPA: to protect human health and the environment. He has betrayed the public trust and clearly misled Senators during his confirmation hearings. His EPA is serving and protecting polluters only. This is no way to Make America Healthy Again. Moms Clean Air Force calls on lawmakers to hold Zeldin accountable in new hearings. We will continue fighting for the climate and clean air protections our children deserve, no matter what obstacles we face along the way. Zeldin must go!”
