EcoMadres Lauds Biden’s Breakthrough Climate and Environmental Justice Actions: The president’s actions move Latino communities toward a healthier, more stable future

Press Statement January 27, 2021

Contact: Sasha Tenenbaum, stenenbaum@momscleanairforce.org, 917-887-0146

Las Vegas, NV – Today, President Biden signed executive orders and presidential memorandums focused on environmental justice and climate change. These actions demonstrate the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to ambitious action to address the climate emergency and end racial injustice while rebuilding the economy in a safe and equitable manner.

In response to these actions, Cinthia Zermeño Moore, Nevada field organizer for Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres co-lead, issued the following statement:

“Today, the cause of environmental justice made a great stride forward. With its climate-focused executive actions announced today, the Biden-Harris administration is making a down payment on its promise to address harmful pollution with climate safety, job creation, and equity at its core. These executive actions will help ensure Latino communities, like the one I live in, are healthier communities—but they alone are not enough. Much more work remains to ensure that environmental justice is integrated into every meaningful governmental reform. Let’s work together toward a future with environmental justice for all!”
