WHAT: Media are invited to join Moms Clean Air Force/EcoMadres for a family-friendly concert by SonTierra, a multi-Latin, multi-ethnic, and multi-generational ensemble made up of Iowa-based musicians from Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela. SonTierra sings about climate change, air pollution, environmental destruction, environmental justice, about hope, and about taking action. The songs are mostly in Spanish but include a few bilingual tunes, and the concert will have English banter throughout, explaining what the lyrics mean and encouraging audience members to take action by signing petitions urging the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to finalize the strongest possible tailpipe pollution safeguards and Mercury And Air Toxics Standards (MATS).
WHO: Karin Stein, Iowa Coordinator for Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres, who is also the ensemble’s leader, will be available to speak to media.
WHEN: Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM CT
WHERE: Joe Rosenfield Center 101 (JRC 101), Grinnell College, 1115 8th Avenue, Grinnell, Iowa. The event will be livestreamed on EcoMadres Facebook and Twitter pages. The recording will then be posted to YouTube.
