WASHINGTON, DC—Early this morning, the U.S. House passed (216-212) a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution that removes protections on seven of the world’s most dangerous and deadly pollutants for 1,800 of the nation’s worst industrial polluters. The Senate voted in favor of this harmful resolution three weeks ago, meaning the resolution now moves to President Trump’s desk for signature.
In response to this devastating blow to Clean Air Act protections, Dominique Browning, Moms Clean Air Force Co-Founder and Director, issued the following statement:
“Who in their right mind thinks it is OK to release more of the seven most dangerous air pollutants into the air? 216 members of the House of Representatives. They just voted to pass one of the most lethal rollbacks to Clean Air Act protections in history. How is it even possible that they could think this pollution is good for the people they represent? How is it even possible that we have lawmakers that want this?
“The stakes are inconceivably high. These pollutants cause fetal harm. Altered human immune function. Developmental delays in children. Increased risk of reproductive problems. Diabetes. Dementia. Cardiovascular diseases. Cancer, cancer, cancer.
“While Congress says yes to pollution, millions of Moms across the country say NO. Absolutely not.
“Moms Clean Air Force salutes the 212 Representatives who voted to protect our children and make sure our air is clean and safe.”
