Clean Air Advocates Gather in Atlanta to Call for End to EPA Cuts

Press Statement April 14, 2025

CONTACT: DKC News, [email protected]

WHAT: Moms Clean Air Force, EDF Action, Progress Georgia, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Partnership for Southern Equity, Rep. Nikema Williams (D-GA-05) District Chief of Staff Tre Riddle, and former EPA Regional Administrator Daniel Blackman, will gather in front of the EPA Region 4 office in Atlanta, calling for an end to cuts to EPA staff, EPA funding, and EPA programs.

Global warming is rapidly destabilizing our climate and putting our weather on steroids, contributing to ferocious wildfire seasons, rising sea levels, prolonged and record-breaking heat waves and extended drought. As we near the fifty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the EPA, we need it more than ever, and stronger than ever.

These drastic cuts to all facets of EPA undermine the agency’s ability to perform its fundamental mission – protecting public health from environmental harms. The EPA has a critical job to do, ensuring that toxic superfund sites are safely contained, regulating greenhouse gas emissions, allowing school districts to replace dirty diesel buses with zero emission buses, and protecting us from industrial emissions, car and truck pollution, and leaky oil and gas wells. These cuts to EPA endanger our country’s very ability to protect children and communities from the perilous—and even deadly—consequences of global warming.

Learn more and RSVP HERE.

  • Tre Riddle, Rep. Nikema Williams (D-GA-05) District Chief of Staff

  • Rachel McBride, Associates of Partnership for Southern Equity’s YES! For Equity portfolio.

WHEN: April 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST
