WASHINGTON, DC– The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced today that 2024 was officially the United States’ hottest year on record. Extreme heat poses a major threat to the health of families, and especially that of children.
Moms Clean Air Force Director & Co-Founder Dominique Browning released the following statement in response to NOAA’s announcement:
“President-elect Trump has nominated men who do not think global warming is a problem to run the very agencies responsible for cutting the methane and carbon emissions that are super-heating our world. The announcement from NOAA should ring alarm bells for everyone who cares about life on earth and the lives and health of our children. Kids are especially susceptible to the perils of extreme heat because their bodies and brains are still developing. They are more vulnerable to heat-related illness. For them and for just about all of us, Mars will not be an option. The heat waves piling up year after year mean our weather is becoming more extreme, and, as we are seeing once again in California, wildfires are becoming fiercer, more intense, and longer lasting. We must cut climate emissions and add much more cleaner energy to our electricity and transportation mix. Human civilization depends on it.”
