Jayne Black

Jayne Black

Wisconsin Field Organizer

Jayne Black is the Moms Clean Air Force field organizer in Allouez, Wisconsin. She is the founder of Green Schools Rock, a program that supports sustainability in schools and trains youth to be environmental leaders. She is a certified green classroom professional and mentor.

An avid volunteer, Jayne supports Joshua-4-Justice, Rights of Nature, the WI Conservation Corps and Wild Ones, the Great Lakes Boys and Girls Club, and the American Lung Association’s indoor air quality campaign for schools. As a Moms Clean Air Force organizer, she is part of the Clean Economy Coalition of Wisconsin and the CECW 100 Percent Clean Energy Committee, Power Wisconsin Forward, the Statewide Data Center Team, the Heat and Health Network of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Climate Action Navigators Network. Jayne’s work with Moms has been featured in People magazine, La Vanguardia, WisPolitics, WTMJ, The Cool Down, Spectrum 1 News (for a second time here), and many other outlets.

A former pre-K teacher, Jayne is mom to a daughter with multiple sclerosis and a son with asthma. She sees the impact of climate change and poor air quality on her children daily. This inspired her to help her state representative write the first indoor air quality bill for schools in Wisconsin. She is fighting for transparency and accountability regarding indoor air quality monitoring and testing to protect children’s health.

Jayne believes that caregivers should use our voices to create positive change in our communities and that finding solutions to climate disruption requires the involvement of more women leaders. Our stories as parents can inspire action at the local, state, and national levels.

Jayne and her family enjoy traveling, hiking, supporting local musicians, and spending time surrounded by the water at their second home in Door County.
