Stay In & Speak Out for Climate Action and Justice in Every Breath
This year, we aren’t playing around. We aren’t holding our happy, crowded, buzzing and bubbling annual Play-In for Climate Action in Washington, DC.
We can’t, because we care most about keeping our loved ones safe. We will continue to respect all guidelines for social distancing, mask-wearing, and hand washing—all across the country. This isn’t the time to relax our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
But! Moms around the country are participating in our summer campaign to Stay-In and Speak Out for Climate Action—and we’ll be staying in and speaking up throughout the summer, demanding climate action from your elected officials, and talking to health experts, scientists, faith leaders, and others.
And yes, there will be music, and singing, and dancing.
WHAT WE’RE FIGHTING FOR
Moms are still super-serious about demanding from Congress that they take action to get us to climate safety. We’re more serious than ever, because we see what happens when we ignore science and health experts, ignore data, ignore nature’s signals of distress, and ignore the pain and suffering of people already being impacted by weather on steroids, blistering heat, unusual floods, and wildfires.
Further, with COVID-19, we are witnessing the glaring impacts of air pollution undermining peoples’ health, especially those living in communities that bear the brunt of oil and gas operations, chemical operations, and highway traffic. The injustice packs a triple whammy: dirty and dangerous air every single day, vulnerability to devastating disease, and extreme vulnerability to the ravages of climate change.
Justice in Every Breath
Moms are calling for Justice in Every Breath. We must act now. Everything we care about is at stake in the coming election. Nothing—not a pandemic, nor a politician stuck in climate denial—will stop our expressions of mother love.
