Speak Out for Climate Action and Justice in Every Breath
Right now, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Moms are not meeting in person with our lawmakers.
We can’t, because we care most about keeping our loved ones safe. We will continue to follow health-protective guidelines for social distancing, mask-wearing, and hand washing—all across the country. This isn’t the time to relax our fight against the pandemic that has taken hundreds of thousands of American lives.
But that doesn’t mean that we are on pause. Moms know that we have to continue to fight to protect our children’s health and their future from climate change and air pollution. That’s why we’ve moved our conversations with lawmakers online. Moms across the country are joining us to Speak Out for Climate Action—and we’ll be staying in and speaking up as long as the pandemic places limits on in-person activities.
WHAT WE’RE FIGHTING FOR
Moms want our elected leaders to take action for climate safety. We’re more serious than ever, because we see what happens when we ignore science and health experts, ignore data, ignore nature’s signals of distress, and ignore the pain and suffering of people already being harmed by wildfires, blistering heat, and supercharged tropical storms and hurricanes.
We’ve never been more aware of the vital importance of clean air. COVID-19 preys on those with underlying health conditions such as COPD, heart disease, and asthma—some of the very conditions made worse by air pollution. For those living in communities that bear the brunt of oil and gas operations, chemical operations, and highway traffic, the burden of the pandemic serves to highlight these grim inequities. The injustice packs a triple whammy: dirty and dangerous air every single day, vulnerability to devastating disease, and extreme vulnerability to the ravages of climate change.
Justice in Every Breath
Moms are calling for Justice in Every Breath. We must act now. Nothing—not a pandemic, nor a politician stuck in climate denial—will stop our motherlove. Join us.
