What We’re Working On

Time Is Running Out: Clean Energy Tax Credits About to End for Nevadan Families
Nevadans can take advantage of federal clean energy tax credits and rebates made possible by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, but time is running out, thanks to funding cuts in Trump's Big Brutal Bill. The benefits, available through the end of 2025, can help lower energy bills, reduce climate pollution, and make homes healthier by supporting upgrades like solar panels, electric appliances, and heat pumps. Check out Rewiring America's calculator to see how much you could save.

Why We Care
Nevada is leading on renewable energy. In November 2020, Nevada voters passed a ballot initiative to amend the state constitution to mandate that electric utility companies switch to a minimum of 50% renewable energy by 2030. With the highest solar potential in the U.S., Nevada is well-positioned for this goal.
Climate change, however, puts Nevada at risk. As the driest state, it faces worsening droughts, and with warmer winters, Nevada’s mountain snowpack—vital for water—is shrinking, raising concerns over water scarcity. In fact, Reno and Las Vegas are the fastest-warming U.S. cities, making heat-related health risks more severe, especially for older adults and children.
Air quality is also a major concern. From 2019 to 2021, Las Vegas and Reno experienced numerous unsafe ozone days, earning both Clark and Washoe Counties F grades from the American Lung Association. Over 40,000 children in Clark County have asthma, forcing many kids to limit outdoor play due to frequent poor air days.
