The last two years saw unprecedented action from the Biden Administration and Congress on climate, public health, and our kids. Our work has only just begun. This November, vote to continue progress for our kids, our climate, and public health.

  • US rejoins Paris Climate Agreement
  • Biden sets goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 50% by 2030
  • US joins 110 countries in the Global Methane Pledge to cut emissions
  • US launches Justice40 initiative to support environmental justice
  • EPA proposes Clean Air Act rule to reduce methane emissions by 41 million tons
  • EPA finalizes strictest emissions standards in history for passenger cars/light trucks
  • Congress passes the Inflation Reduction Law — the largest climate bill in US history
  • Congress passes the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law with billions for environmental issues
  • Congress passes the CHIPS and Science Act, with billions for clean energy jobs

Biden Administration Actions

  1. Rejoined Paris Climate Agreement
  2. Set goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 50-52% by 2030
  3. Pledged to make the US carbon neutral by 2050
  4. Joined the Global Methane Pledge to cut methane emissions by 30% by 2030
  5. Launched Justice40 Initiative to ensure that at least 40% of the benefits of climate investments go to communities that are disproportionately impacted by pollution
  6. Appointed climate champions to key government roles as part of President Biden’s “whole of government” approach to fighting the climate crisis
  7. Enacted 56 new policies and rules to limit air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions

EPA Actions

  1. Proposed Clean Air Act rule (Methane Rule) to reduce methane emissions by 41 million tons from 2023 to 2035
  2. Finalized strictest vehicle emissions standards in history for passenger cars and light trucks
  3. Proposed a standard to reduce pollution from heavy-duty vehicles
  4. Significantly increased funding to replace older polluting diesel school buses with zero-tailpipe-pollution electric buses
  5. Awarded $10.5 million to replace 473 older polluting diesel school buses, and will award $500 million for cleaner school buses through the Clean School Bus Program
  6. Banned the use of the pesticide chlorpyrifos on food, which will protect human health, particularly that of children and farmworkers

Congressional Actions

Inflation Reduction Law: $369 Billion in Climate Funding

  1. Projected to reduce US greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030
  2. Creates an estimated 9 million good-paying jobs that will boost US energy security
  3. Saves the average family $1,800 per year in energy costs
  4. Significant tax credits to purchase an electric vehicle
  5. $11.5 billion in industrial emissions reduction programs
  6. $406 million to reduce air pollution at large polluting facilities and schools and to fund zero-emissions technologies at US ports
  7. A program to reduce harmful methane pollution by making polluters pay for emissions—the first of its kind
  8. $60 billion for environmental justice funding to reduce legacy pollution, invest in urban parks, install air pollution monitors in neighborhoods and schools in disadvantaged communities, and make energy-efficient upgrades

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

  1. $5 billion in clean school bus funding
  2. $4.7 billion in funding to cap orphaned oil and gas wells, a major source of greenhouse gas emissions
  3. $8 billion in water infrastructure funding to replace lead water pipes and reduce PFAS pollution in drinking water ($55 billion total to expand access to clean drinking water)
  4. $200 million in funding to improve pipeline safety and reduce gas leaks
  5. $11.3 billion to help Tribal communities eliminate environmental hazards and pollution from coal mining
  6. $5.4 billion to clean up legacy pollution at Superfund and brownfield sites

CHIPS and Science Act

  1. $67 billion to promote clean energy jobs
