Davis with the Alliance for the Great Lakes. \nLearn more and RSVP HERE. \nAbout the speaker: Crystal M.C. Davis is a respected professional with a career in government affairs that bloomed in Columbus\, Ohio\, and Washington\, DC. Crystal is currently with the Alliance for the Great Lakes as its Vice President of Policy & Strategic Engagement\, leading the organization’s efforts related to Lake Erie\, drinking water policy advocacy and relationship building across the region. In this role\, Crystal has spearheaded the Alliance’s commitment to diverse engagement of Great Lakes communities and authored the organization’s seminal report Step One: Shut Up and Listen. She also developed and executed the organization’s environmental policy and strategy on Lake Erie water quality issues. Moreover\, in 2016 Crystal founded the Thornton Buckeye Group\, which is a government relations and public affairs firm that provides clients tactical advocacy\, policy\, communications and other related services. Crystal has developed local\, state and national clients. To return to Greater Cleveland\, Crystal left a position in D.C. as the Federal Relations Director for Kent State University\, where she established KSU’s federal office and policy agenda on Capitol Hill. Her previous experience includes stints with the Ohio House of Representatives\, the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus\, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. \nCrystal is a graduate of Kent State University\, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.\, winner of the 2015 Ohio TRiO Trailblazer Award\, an Environmental Commissioner for the City of Twinsburg\, Ohio\, Ohio Lake Erie Commissioner and 2018 Crain’s Cleveland Business 40 under 40 Honoree. She is an Akron\, Ohio native and now lives in Northeast Ohio with her husband and their two young children.

They will talk about the impacts of the waste incinerator in East Liverpool\, Martins Ferry\, petrochemicals\, fracking\, and more. \nRegister for this virtual event here. \nAbout the speakers: \nWhitney Taylor Washington is a longtime resident of East Liverpool and lives extremely close to the WTI Toxic Waste Incinerator. Whitney has taught math for East Liverpool Schools since 1998 and works closely with youth in the community. She is former President of the East Liverpool NAACP and serves on numerous boards and committees throughout Ohio. \nBeverly Reed is a lifelong resident of the Ohio River Valley. She is a community organizer and cofounder of Concerned Ohio River Residents. She is passionate about public health and the environment and works with others in the ORV on issues including petrochemicals\, fracking\, air monitoring\, and advocacy.

The Ohio legislature has a golden opportunity to undo the damage of HB 6 by ending the consumer bailout of the two outdated\, polluting OVEC coal plants. This coal giveaway was added at the last minute to HB 6’s nuclear bailout (which has already been repealed) and is costing Ohio consumers $233\,000 every day.  \nMoms Clean Air Force will join our partners across Ohio to call on lawmakers to must pass the bipartisan SB 117 and HB 351\, which would repeal the coal bailouts AND provide a refund to Ohio consumers. Join us on December 9 at 12 PM at the Ohio Statehouse. \nFeel free to wear festive holiday gear. Bring a homemade sign\, friends\, and neighbors. If we get 240 people\, standing 10 feet apart\, we can surround Capitol Square and really make a statement.

In her role\, she leads on a range of conservation\, climate\, and environmental issues from access to clean and affordable water to the transition of post-industrial cities\, West Virginia coal towns\, and coastal and offshore wind along the eastern seaboard. \nPrior to her work at NWF\, Lightfoot served in the U.S. Air Force and as deputy chief of staff in the Michigan House of Representatives.
