From Katy Farber at Non Toxic Kids: even if you don’t live anywhere near a coal plant, you’re still exposed to poisons.
Even if you live nowhere near a coal plant, or large factory, this affects you. Where I live in Vermont, there is no coal plant, but we have 117 current statewide and waterbody advisories for mercury contamination. Just as shown in Vermont’s body burden study, none of us is immune to these problems and exposures. Just as we can’t shop our way out of exposures in products, we can’t simply just hope that the industry will regulate itself and lessen harmful toxic chemicals from entering our water, our homes and our schools.
