My sons Logan, Liam, and Lincoln are pros when it comes to fighting for climate action. Washington, DC is almost like a second home for them, the halls of Congress just familiar as the parks they play in at home. They’ve joined me at play-ins, public hearings, and lobby visits to help build a better world for all children.
Next week, my family is headed to Washington, DC once again. But this time, my husband and I will be there to support our kids as they call on our leaders to take bold action to protect their future.
On September 20, young people around the world are asking us — the adults in their lives — to join them in a Global Climate Strike. They see the climate destruction all around them. They know their future is on the line. And they will not stand by any longer.
Mothers and fathers will be joining sons and daughters, aunts and uncles joining nieces and nephews, grandparents joining their children’s children. Because that’s what this is all about: creating a healthier, cleaner, safer, and more vibrant world for everyone.
We are all in this together. All generations. And we need all hearts and minds working together to solve this urgent problem.
Students will be walking out of their classrooms. We can join them, walking out of our workplaces and homes to make sure that our collective voices are heard
As moms, we do everything we can to make sure our kids are safe. Now they’re asking for our help. It’s our responsibility to give it.
