This June, DC Moms are planning to attend the premiere of the “WRAPture: A Public Art Project,” a 48-minute film that follows a seven-month-long climate justice art engagement from the Anacostia neighborhood in DC to a remote Bangladeshi island on the frontlines of climate change. The film is the work of Bangladeshi-American artist and Moms Clean Air Force member Monica Jahan Bose, who led over 200 people to co-create 65 climate-themed saris and then displayed them on five DC buildings.
The film will be shown at the Kennedy Center’s Reach outdoor pavilion as part of Jalsa (REMIX), a wonderful evening of music, poetry, art, and film curated by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center.
