Public Participation in Pennsylvania’s Oil and Gas Methane Rule

June 17, 2020
11:00 am
- 11:45 am EDT

Join Moms Clean Air Force Pennsylvania and our partners for a conversation about Pennsylvania’s oil and gas methane air pollution problem. Pennsylvania’s oil and gas industry leaks and vents 1.1 million tons of methane air pollution each year, over 16 times more than what the industry self-reports to the state. Methane is the main component of natural gas and a potent greenhouse gas responsible for 25 percent of the climate change we’re already experiencing worldwide. Join us on June 17 to learn how you can play a role in strengthening the state’s proposed methane rule to protect our communities and the climate.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has just announced an open public comment period until July 27 for a proposed rule to reduce harmful methane and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from existing oil and gas operations. There will be three public hearings via telephone on June 23, 24, and 25. On the webinar, we will explain how to register to give comments to strengthen the methane rule.
