Danny Shanahan
Danny Shanahan has been a professional cartoonist for more than twenty-five years, twenty-five of them as a staff cartoonist for The New Yorker Magazine. Over the past two decades he has published over 900 cartoons, covers, illustrations and ads for that magazine, and scores of drawings for many others, including Time, Newsweek, Playboy, Esquire, Parade, Barron’s, and Fantasy & Science Fiction Magazine. Also, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Chicago Tribune. His work has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the United States, Europe and Australia, and is in the permanent collection of The James Thurber Museum in Columbus, Ohio. His cartoons have also appeared in dozens of collections, including four books of his own: “Lassie! Get Help!!”, “Innocent, Your Honor”, “I’m No Quack”, and “Bad Sex!” Danny has written and illustrated books for children, edited “Some Delights of the Hudson Valley”, an anthology of Hudson Valley humor, and recently contributed to and wrote the forward for “The New Yorker of Golf Cartoons”. He lives in New York.
