Senators Threaten Mercury Ruling

We’ve been in a long, tough battle to get strong new protections against mercury and other poisons that spew from coal-fired power plants. Today, with the finish line in sight, one Senator is organizing a campaign to put a halt to the new mercury standards.

The new rule, the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, has been 21 years in the making. It has bipartisan support. Even many utility owners agree it is a good rule. They know, as do pediatricians and scientists, that mercury is a terrible neurotoxin that harms the developing hearts, lungs and brains of fetuses, infants and toddlers. It contaminates our food. Mercury does not belong in our air. And it is possible to keep it out, with American-made technology–which many utilities are already using!

Senator Inhofe’s Congressional Review Act is a cynical, heartless political move. We need strong protections against poisons in our air. Please tell your Senator you do not want him or her to support Senator Inhofe’s CRA.

It is past time to stop coal plant pollution.

    Senators who calously and cynically vote for allowing mercury to poison children and adults should be voted out of office. However, unless we, the little people rise up and vote these corrupt legislators out of office our green planet will be destroyed.

    Inhofe is a villain and a danger to us all!

    My grandparents lived to 98 and 99 years old and died naturally. My parents to 88 and 89 years old. They died of pancreatic cancer which is most deadly and very painful, but in previous generations was almost unheard of. Now I am 78 and feel very unwell. Cancer is killing one in three persons, up from one in ten when I was a child. I expect my time is about up due to pollution in everything, not just the air which has become loaded with radioactivity, but water, food and it keeps getting worse. however
    The Bible says that "save these last dys be shortened there shall be NO life left on the earth". Does anyone care? It also says that in the last days demons shall arise from hell and infect the minds and hearts of man." The polliticians and corporate mougals? Most people now agree these are the last days.
    We are the only ones that can save us.
